Coronavirus: NSW records seven new cases of COVID-19

1 month ago 19

Seven new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in NSW to 8pm Sunday. Of those just one is a returned traveller in hotel quarantine and six are locally acquired.

The premier remains concerned about the virus continuing to spread in southwestern and western Sydney.

“That is a big concern because if you look back to Melbourne, Melbourne didn’t get worse because of the number of cases they had, they had undetected community transmission which then unknowingly got to a stage where it did,” Gladys Berejiklian said while addressing the media on Monday.

“It formed into a number of different clusters and we certainly don't want that to happen here in NSW.”

The news comes after an affluent Sydney high school was forced to close after a student tested positive.

Sydney Girls High School at Moore Park confirmed it will close today and will reschedule a HSC trial exam which was planned for today. Students have been notified, the school said.

“The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times. As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to. Thank you for your ongoing support,” the school said.
