Queensland records three new COVID cases on Saturday

2 weeks ago 6

Queensland recorded three new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced.

The state now has 31 active cases.

Ms Palaszczuk said the new cases had already been traced by the state’s health department.

“Today’s new cases are all contacts of previously confirmed cases and are in quarantine,” she said.

It follows the state recording two new cases on Friday, zero on Thursday, and eight on Wednesday.

Wednesday was one of the largest single-day jumps in the state in weeks, with three linked to an outbreak at Ipswich Hospital, and five all from one family linked to an outbreak at the Queensland Correctional Services Academy.

But since then, the numbers have trended down for the rest of the week.

Deputy Premier Steven Miles is expected to provide a further update at 1pm on Saturday.
